Alsace

Alsace is also a land of wine! Famous the world over, the Alsace Wine Route from Marlenheim to Tann is a legendary route through a remarkable region dotted with picturesque villages and wine-producing towns.

The best way to enjoy it at your own pace is by bike! Take the Véloroute du Vignoble d'Alsace (Alsace vineyard cycle route), which just a few pedal strokes away reveals the richness of the region's heritage (ruins of medieval castles, magnificent half-timbered houses, etc.).

Enthusiastic winegrowers open their doors to the curious, while wine-related activities take visitors through the vineyards, which boast 3 registered designations of origin (Alsace Grands Crus, Alsace and Crémant d'Alsace).

In Alsace, cyclists are spoilt for choice when it comes to cycling routes! In addition to the 3 European itineraries (EuroVelo), the region offers a wide range of cycling routes to take for a few hours or a day, between the plains, vineyards and mountains.

If you enjoy "playing with borders", the little loop of the Trois Pays will give you the impression of travelling by bike in less than 3 hours. Between France, Germany and Switzerland, this entirely safe and signposted route offers a great cross-border family ride along the water! Not far from the German border, the "Goethe and the potters' villages" cycle route will take you back to the artist's time in Alsace.

As you head towards the foothills of the Vosges mountains, there are two easy cycle routes for families. One allows you to discover the Obernai area on the "Portes Bonheur, chemin des carrières" greenway at the foot of Mont-Saint Odile, while the other takes cyclists through the Bonnefontaine forest and the sumptuous landscapes of the Sarre Valley.
