Discover the region
There are few countries in the world that have so much beauty to offer in such a small area. Even today, medieval towns, proud castles, elegant palaces and folk architecture bear witness to the country's rich history. The numerous sights are surrounded by a diverse natural landscape with dense forests, high mountains and rocky towns, wide river plains, lakes and ponds. Anyone who sets off on a journey of discovery to the Czech Republic will experience the country's history.
The golden city on the Vltava - Prague
The capital city of Prague is undoubtedly worth a visit, as the city with its hundred towers, which has been honoured by famous personalities for centuries, is a walking architectural textbook. The historic centre is even a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is considered a highlight for city travellers. Famous sights include Prague Castle with St Vitus Cathedral, the Old Town Square and Charles Bridge. A little tip: take a stroll across Charles Bridge as the sun sets behind the impressive silhouette of Prague Castle. The city is also a favourite film location for directors. Blockbusters such as James Bond - Casino Royale or the Oscar film Amadeus were shot here. The film locations can now be experienced with the "Czech Film Trips" app.
Hidden treasures of the Czech Republic
There are 12 UNESCO cities in the Czech Republic, of which the town of Český Krumlov is the most popular destination. However, the Czech Republic has numerous other places that are recognised as European cultural heritage. Almost 2000 castles, palaces, fortresses and ruins are still reminders of the centuries of Bohemian rule. However, these are not dusty museums. Medieval festivals and markets, special guided tours and open-air festivals are organised here. If you want to relive the life of the nobility, it is best to stay overnight in one of the castles and go back to the noble era.
Active holidays & relaxation
Would you prefer an active holiday? Whether on foot or by bike: the mountain ranges of the Ore Mountains, the Bohemian Forest and the Sudeten Mountains are particularly popular with hikers and cyclists. The highest Czech mountains - the Giant Mountains - as well as the South Moravian Wine Route or the route along the Elbe to its source invite active holidaymakers to explore the beautiful landscape. If you like putting two skis under your feet in winter, Spindleruv Mlyn is the place for you. Located at the foot of the Schneekoppe in the Giant Mountains, Spindlemühle is an important ski centre. Skiers and cross-country skiers can enjoy the snow-covered winter landscape here. Afterwards, you can relax in one of the 37 spas in the famous West Bohemian spa triangle: Karlsbad, Marienbad or Franzensbad.
Traditions, fragrances and flavours
The Czech Republic is not only characterised by its varied landscape, beautiful cities and spa tradition. The flavours of the local cuisine, excellent wines and beers also contribute to the joy of discovering the Czech Republic. Albert Einstein, Franz Kafka and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart were all inspired by the Czech Republic.
